There has been a massive rise over recent years in the number of people making the decision to undergo some form of plastic or cosmetic surgery. Many claim the jump in these procedures is being led by millennials and what is referred to as “Instagram Vanity”. It was reported in the US that some 24,099 Brazilian Butt Lifts were carried out in 2018. It seems that millennials in particular are telling their doctors they want to look the same in real life as they do in their snapchat filters. Instagram and Snapchat have altered people’s perception of beauty. We are now living in the era of the filtered photograph, however, it seems that filtering/altering the photograph is no longer enough.
